The Renaissance Martial Arts Society (RMAS) is a student society at the University of Abertay. The group offers historical fencing tuition, as well as a strong personal development programme. Priding themselves on being open, welcoming and inclusive. This society is regularly one of the largest clubs in the Academy, so there are always lots of opportunities to meet new people and make new friends!
The club has a heavy focus on German Longsword taking mainly from the Leichtenauer tradition but also utilising other sources to provide a well-rounded study programme. Also offering a wide variety of martial disciplines throughout the academic year including Italian Dagger, German Wrestling, Scottish Regimental Broadsword, Edwardian era Walking Stick, Sword and Buckler, and more.
They are always expanding their repertoire to offer an interesting and diverse selection of HEMA to their members.

With a robust programme to help eager practitioners begin teaching and regular forums to discuss the topic of teaching in HEMA there are ample opportunities to progress in your journey through Historical European Martial Arts.
